Petcube: Dog and Cat Always Very Close

November 17, 2020 by Jennifer Wood

Admittedly, the Petcube doesn’t seem particularly noticeable at first glance. A metallic cube with a camera and a black front. But together with the app, the cube offers an interesting opportunity for pet owners to always be closer to their darlings – and a great addition to the smart home.

Fur animals and processors

Dogs and cats in particular are among the most popular pets in Germany, but if masters are firmly established in their professional life or are studying full-time, the furry four-legged friends have to spend their days alone at home.

The Petcube developers wanted to remedy this and began to finance their project on Kickstarter in 2013 – but there is already a surveillance camera with which we can keep an eye on our own four walls via an app. But the Petcube enables a new level of interaction. In addition to the camera, pet owners can also talk to their animals via the built-in boxes and cats can even be viewed from a distance using an integrated laser pointer. The roughly hand-sized cube is by no means just a remote-controlled camera.

Technology and animals

The technology built into the Petcube is also impressive. The cube connects to the Internet via the home Wi-Fi network and owners (or other authorized users) can use the 138 ° wide-angle camera to see what the animals are doing at home at any time. A built-in microphone and speakers also enable a direct “conversation”, thanks to the wireless WLAN, it works like a human Skype conversation.

The app shows that there is a growing community and that many users enable everyone to take a look at their animals. So if you want to see in advance what to expect from the 190 dollars’ dice, you can use the iOS and Android app to sniff other animals.

With a classic 1/4 “thread, the cube even fits on any conventional tripod.

In order to get your pets used to the Petcube, it is of course advisable to try out the functions first while you are present yourself.

Always with your pet with your smartphone

The interaction between the app and Petcube makes it possible to keep an eye on dogs, cats and co. Since the cube is inconspicuous, small and elegantly designed, it fits into any smart home. You can always be very close to your loved ones, especially through interaction via laser games or conversations.

Incidentally, there is explicitly no infrared camera in the Petcube, but the owners recommend remote-controlled lights in the smart home. This also makes the animals feel more comfortable than with secret shading. Please visit Voucherful.co.uk for Petcube discounts.

When your cat stops freaking out about these things, you can leave for a moment and then for short periods of time. When you come back inside, greet your pet and play a little bit. As your feline companion gets less stressed, you can start leaving for extended periods of time. You can break up these periods of isolation by using the Petcube camera at random moments when you are away, either dispensing treats or talking to your kitty.
