Leaving a puppy alone for eight or more hours during the daytime is likely to result in an animal that experiences significant separation anxiety and is not properly socialize.
If you are considering bringing a new puppy into your home, there are many things that you should think about before making a final commitment to sharing your life with a new furry friend.
What Makes Puppies Demanding Pets
Puppies require a lot of care and attention, and if you live alone and are employed on a full-time basis, your puppy may not receive the socialization he needs to be a happy and healthy canine companion. Perhaps you should get an adult dog instead.
Dogs who do not receive proper socialization as puppies frequently never get past not having been socialized. They are often fearful and nervous and may even show signs of aggression under certain circumstances. Canines are pack animals that need the social structure and companionship provided by the pack, and they can become severely dysfunctional if they are not socialized when they are young. It is not advisable to bring a puppy to live in your home and proceed to leave it alone for the majority of the time. Some breeds will take it as torture ending up in all kinds of deceases.

Is Dog Boarding Kennel a Solution?
“A growing number of owners choose to take their new puppies to a dog-watching service as an alternative to leaving the animal alone for most of the day.” – admits Kelly Fenney, owner of Kellyskennels, UK.
This can be an excellent solution provided that the people who own or work at the service have the appropriate animal-handling skills necessary to help a puppy become socialized. If the puppy is simply going to be left in a kennel in the middle of a bunch of other barking dogs, the service will possibly cause more harm than good. All the puppy will learn from such an experience is to be fearful of other dogs and even of other people.
The Right Dog Care Service
However, if the service is run by someone who truly enjoys being around animals and understands the importance of socialization to puppies, it could be just the right answer for someone who lives alone but wants to raise a puppy into a lifelong canine companion. The best way to tell if a service is right for you to watch how the owners and employees interact with your puppy when you bring it for an initial visit. If all seems well, you should give the place a trial run. If your puppy begins to show signs of fear and distress when it is time to spend time there, however, you are probably going to have to look for another center.
The best environment for a puppy is a home with several family members or housemates who have differing schedules. Ideally, at least one adult or responsible adolescent should be in the home at all times during the first few months of the puppy’s life. However, if it becomes necessary to leave the puppy for small periods of time, this will provide you with an excellent chance to begin crate-training your furry friend.
